THE QUESTIONNAIRE

Name: Priscila Oñate Herbillón.

1- What would rate your confidence in using information technology? (1 for not confident, 10 for extremely confident)
_Only 5.

2- What would be your preferred method of communication with the online course tutor - (Telephone, email, skype video link, through the UB tutor)
_Definitely by e-mail.

3- How often would you expect to be in contact with your online course tutor during the course?
_I think that for suggestions, questions, comments and short tasks from Monday to Friday, But for long tasks I really would need a week.

4- What are your feelings about contacting a tutor who is based abroad? (positive, negative, hesitant, confident, unsure etc)
_Positive and very interesting. Besides gives us (students from Los Angeles) a certain status among others students of English in similar courses.

5- How often do you access the internet, what are any barriers that you can identify that limit your access?
_I can access every night at home and sometimes during the mornings too. My barriers are: I work part-time in a school so a have very long days and also sometimes the internet connection at home is not working so well, but I think that I can fix that. We don’t have an exact schedule at the university to book and use internet.

6- What do you hope to gain from the online course?
_As much as a student could gain. Everything that the teacher considered when she/he created this method. I’ll do my best and if I fail is because I`m tired.

7- How would you feel if you had a choice in the way that you wished to publish your online work? Eg. (oral presentation on skype, public presentations, private presentations, published on your blog, e-mailed to your course tutor, power point presentation, photo document, audio document etc)
_Nervous but finally very well. It’s a lot of work but I’m not afraid of it, and I am willing to do what the course ask me to do (of course I expect the teacher gives us some reasonable time to complete it).

8- Would you prefer to work in pairs, alone, in a group, varied forms?
_Alone.

9- How would feel about a peer tutor being assigned to the group, a person from your class to offer help and support, and who is working with the course tutor?
_I wouldn’t mind, I think that the more, the merrier! And if it is for the good develop of it, it’s o.k.

10- Would you prefer a set course outline prior to the course, or a week by week flexible plan that is based on weekly feedback from the students?
_Definitely a week by week flexible plan, even though it could mean to work harder.

11- How have you been organizing and filing your university course work and articles so far? How effective is this?
_I’ve been very busy and most of the times short of time, but I think it is because of my job. I try to do my best and haven’t received any complain so far.

12- Have you ever reflected on your previous work to see your personal or professional development? What other strategies do you use to show you that you are learning?
_I feel more confident about publishing articles and also now I know what are you (and Mr. Pat) talking about when you name specific words from curriculum or didactics. Read and learn everyday something new.

13- Can you identify any other barrier to online learning?
_ Besides short of time and fully access to internet, no.

14- Do you understand that this is a pilot course and the expectation is for you to take an active role in the planning, undertaking and the ongoing evaluation of this course? As things will be continually developing are you prepared to be patient and persevere with the perhaps ever changing nature of this course?
_Yes, I do.
